Summary
BTN3A2 is part of the BT3 family of immunoreceptors belonging to the extended B7 family that are expressed on the surface of resting and activated monocytes and monocyte-derived dendritic cells (iDC). BT3 molecules are involved in the regulation of the balance between immune activation and suppression.
Entrez Gene
Summary This gene encodes a member of the butyrophilin (BTN) family and the immunoglobulin (IG) superfamily. The gene resides in the juxta-telomeric region of the major histocompatability class 1 locus and is clustered with the other six family members, including BTN, BTN2A1, BTN2A2, BTN2A3, BTN3A1, and BTN3A3, on chromosome 6. The full-length protein encoded by this gene is a type I membrane protein. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2010]
This gene encodes a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily, which resides in the juxta-telomeric region of the major histocompatability class 1 locus and is clustered with the other family members on chromosome 6. The encoded protein may be involved in the adaptive immune response. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
