Summary This gene does not have any Entrez summary - the following is the summary from its human ortholog ENSG00000163156:
This locus represents naturally occurring read-through transcription between the neighboring TNFAIP8L2 (tumor necrosis factor, alpha-induced protein 8-like 2) and SCNM1 (sodium channel modifier 1) genes on chromosome 1. The read-through transcript encodes a protein that shares sequence identity with the downstream gene product but its N-terminal region is shorter due to alternate exon use, compared to the downstream gene. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2011] SCNM1 is a zinc finger protein and putative splicing factor. In mice, Scnm1 modifies phenotypic expression of Scn8a (MIM 600702) mutations (Buchner et al., 2003 [PubMed 12920299]).[supplied by OMIM, Oct 2009]
