InnateDB Protein IDBP-157791.6
Last Modified 2014-10-13 [Report errors or provide feedback]
Gene Symbol Gldc
Protein Name glycine decarboxylase
Synonyms D030049L12Rik; D19Wsu57e;
Species Mus musculus
Ensembl Protein ENSMUSP00000025778
InnateDB Gene IDBG-157787 (Gldc)
Protein Structure
UniProt Annotation
Function The glycine cleavage system catalyzes the degradation of glycine. The P protein (GLDC) binds the alpha-amino group of glycine through its pyridoxal phosphate cofactor; CO(2) is released and the remaining methylamine moiety is then transferred to the lipoamide cofactor of the H protein (GCSH) (By similarity). {ECO:0000250}.
Subcellular Localization Mitochondrion {ECO:0000250}.
