Summary This gene encodes a spliceosomal small nuclear RNA that has orthologs in S. pombe and D. melanogaster. In S. pombe, this gene is required for site-specific 2'-O-methylation of U6 snRNA at position A41. While this is not an essential gene for S. pombe growth, loss of this gene's function may result in a slight decrease in mRNA splicing efficiency. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2008]
