Gene Symbol Kcnk3
Protein Name potassium channel, subfamily K, member 3
Synonyms cTBAK-1; TASK; Task-1;
Species Mus musculus
Ensembl Protein ENSMUSP00000098987
InnateDB Gene IDBG-145858 (Kcnk3)
Protein Structure
UniProt Annotation
Function pH-dependent, voltage-insensitive, background potassium channel protein. Rectification direction results from potassium ion concentration on either side of the membrane. Acts as an outward rectifier when external potassium concentration is low. When external potassium concentration is high, current is inward (By similarity). {ECO:0000250}.
Subcellular Localization Membrane {ECO:0000305}; Multi-pass membrane protein {ECO:0000305}.
Disease Associations
Tissue Specificity Very strong expression in heart, also detected in kidney, brain, skin, testis, lung, skeletal muscle, small intestine and stomach. Not detected in liver, thymus or spleen.
