Function Probably involved in sperm cell hyperactivation via its association with CATSPER1. Sperm cell hyperactivation is needed for sperm motility which is essential late in the preparation of sperm for fertilization.

Disease Associations
Tissue Specificity Testis-specific. Specifically present in the principal piece of sperm tail (at protein level). Specifically expressed in the seminiferous tubules but not in the interstitial cells. Within the tubules, it is expressed in spermatocytes and spermatids, but not in spermatogonia. {ECO:0000269PubMed:17478420}.
