Component of the intraflagellar transport (IFT) complex B: together with IFT74, forms a tubulin-binding module that specifically mediates transport of tubulin within the cilium. Binds tubulin via its CH (calponin-homology)-like region. Required for ciliogenesis (By similarity). {ECO:0000250}.Isoform CDV-1: May be involved in cardiac hypertrophy caused by carnitine deficiency.Isoform CDV-1R: May play a role in development of the testis and spermatogenesis.

Tissue Specificity

Isoform CDV-1 is expressed specifically in heart and suppressed specifically in ventricles, but not in auricles, of carnitine-deficient juvenile visceral steatosis (JVS) mice. Isoform CDV-1R is expressed predominantly in the testis.
