Gene Symbol Dph1
Protein Name DPH1 homolog (S. cerevisiae)
Synonyms
Species Mus musculus
Ensembl Protein ENSMUSP00000042162
InnateDB Gene IDBG-264528 (Dph1)
Protein Structure
UniProt Annotation
Function Required for the first step in the synthesis of diphthamide, a post-translational modification of histidine which occurs in translation elongation factor 2 (EEF2). Acts also as a tumor suppressor in lung and breast cancers. Plays a role in embryonic growth, organogenesis and postnatal survival. When overexpressed, suppresses colony formation ability and growth rate of ovarian cancer cells (By similarity). {ECO:0000250}.
Subcellular Localization Nucleus {ECO:0000269PubMed:11527402}. Cytoplasm {ECO:0000269PubMed:11527402}. Note=Punctate, primarily perinuclear localization.
Disease Associations
Tissue Specificity Strongly expressed in kidney and liver. Moderately expressed in brain, skin and testis. Weakly expressed in heart, lung, small intestine, spleen, stomach and thymus. {ECO:0000269PubMed:11527402}.
