Species Mus musculus
Ensembl Protein ENSMUSP00000020930
InnateDB Gene IDBG-213793 (Gna13)
Protein Structure
UniProt Annotation
Function Guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) are involved as modulators or transducers in various transmembrane signaling systems.
Subcellular Localization Membrane {ECO:0000269PubMed:18703424}; Lipid-anchor {ECO:0000269PubMed:18703424}. Melanosome {ECO:0000250}. Cytoplasm {ECO:0000269PubMed:18703424}. Nucleus {ECO:0000269PubMed:18703424}. Note=Cytoplasmic in adult somatic cells, but mainly nuclear in spermatids in the testes. Translocates from the cytoplasm to the nucleus during spermatogenesis, hence predominantly observed in the cytoplasm of round spermatids but localized in the nuclei of elongating or elongated spermatids and testicular spermatozoa.
Disease Associations
Tissue Specificity Expressed in brain and testis, as well as in kidney and sperm (at protein level). {ECO:0000269PubMed:18703424}.
