Last Modified 2014-10-13 [Report errors or provide feedback]
Gene Symbol PPT2
Protein Name Lysosomal thioesterase PPT2
Synonyms
Species Bos taurus
Ensembl Protein ENSBTAP00000005815
InnateDB Gene IDBG-633130 (PPT2)
Protein Structure
UniProt Annotation
Function Removes thioester-linked fatty acyl groups from various substrates including S-palmitoyl-CoA. Has the highest S- thioesterase activity for the acyl groups palmitic and myristic acid followed by other short- and long-chain acyl substrates. However, because of structural constraints, is unable to remove palmitate from peptides or proteins (By similarity). {ECO:0000250}.
Subcellular Localization Lysosome {ECO:0000250}.
