Protein Name Dehydrogenase/reductase SDR family member 9
Synonyms RDHL;
Species Bos taurus
Ensembl Protein ENSBTAP00000005986
InnateDB Gene IDBG-640997 (DHRS9)
Protein Structure
UniProt Annotation
Function 3-alpha-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase that converts 3- alpha-tetrahydroprogesterone (allopregnanolone) to dihydroxyprogesterone and 3-alpha-androstanediol to dihydroxyprogesterone. May play a role in the biosynthesis of retinoic acid from retinaldehyde, but seems to have low activity with retinoids. Can utilize both NADH and NADPH (By similarity). {ECO:0000250}.
Subcellular Localization Cytoplasm {ECO:0000250}. Microsome membrane {ECO:0000250}. Endoplasmic reticulum membrane {ECO:0000250}. Note=Associated with microsomal membranes. {ECO:0000250}.
