Function Acts as a transcriptional repressor. Represses cAMP- responsive element (CRE)-mediated transcriptional activation. Involved in lymphoid lineage commitment and differentiation. Plays a key role in the instruction of early lymphoid progenitors to develop into T-cell lineage. {ECO:0000269PubMed:22201126, ECO:0000269PubMed:22753936}.
Subcellular Localization Nucleus. Nucleus, nucleoplasm {ECO:0000250}. Note=Localized in dot-like structures in the nucleus. Colocalized with SMRT in nuclear bodies. The sumoylated form is preferentially located in the nucleoplasm outside the nuclear bodies (By similarity). {ECO:0000250}.
Disease Associations
Tissue Specificity Expressed strongly in thymus and spleen, less in lymph nodes and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and weakly in bone marrow. Strongly expressed in immature, but weakly in mature bone marrow-lymphocyte B. {ECO:0000269PubMed:22753936}.
