Summary This gene encodes a homolog of the Drosophila Asx gene, which interacts with genes involved in axial patterning. Mice with mutations in this gene display abnormal patterning of the axial skeleton, suggesting a similar function in mice as in Drosophila. This gene may also be involved in bone mineral density, specifically osteoclastogenesis. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2012]
