Summary
[Homo sapiens] MALT1 forms a complex with CARM1 and BCL10 to activate NF-kappaB.
[Homo sapiens] MALT1 is a paracaspase that has arginine-directed proteolytic activity. MALT1 cleaves TNFAIP3, a dual ubiquitin-editing enzyme involved in termination of NF-kappaB signalling, inducing cytosolic release of TNFAIP3 and dampening its inhibitory function.

The protein encoded by this gene may play a role in NF-kappaB activation. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene.
