Summary
Cxcr3 expression on recruited peritoneal macrophages and granulocytes increases following sepsis, and deletion of Cxcr3 significantly increases mortality to a septic challenge in neonatal mice.
Inflammatory monocyte activation status, as measured by dual production of TNF-alpha and IL-12, was severely impaired in Cxcr3(-/-) mice. Deletion of Cxcr3 in mice resulted in selective loss of ability to control T. gondii infection specifically in the lamina propria compartment.
Cxcr3 expression in innate CD8+ T cells defines protective antibacterial and cancer immunity upon Il15 stimulation.
A Cxcr3-dependent innate antiviral pathway operates at epithelial surfaces to induce chemokines and neutrophil activity prior to the induction of interferons.

Entrez Gene
Summary This gene does not have any Entrez summary - the following is the summary from its human ortholog ENSG00000186810:
This gene encodes a G protein-coupled receptor with selectivity for three chemokines, termed CXCL9/Mig (monokine induced by interferon-g), CXCL10/IP10 (interferon-g-inducible 10 kDa protein) and CXCL11/I-TAC (interferon-inducible T cell a-chemoattractant). Binding of chemokines to this protein induces cellular responses that are involved in leukocyte traffic, most notably integrin activation, cytoskeletal changes and chemotactic migration. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. One of the isoforms (CXCR3-B) shows high affinity binding to chemokine, CXCL4/PF4 (PMID:12782716).
