Summary
Igtp is responsible for the IFN-gamma mediated induction of the antimicrobial defence system against Chlamydia trachomatis in mouse. Irgm1/Igtp knockout mice develop high bacterial burden post intrauterine infection, but subsequently clear the infection more efficiently than wt mice due to a compensatory T cell response.
Igtp is part of the Immunity-Related GTPases (IRGs) family of proteins that are induced by interferon-gamma (Ifng) and play a crucial role in innate resistance to intracellular pathogens. Igtp also influences the localization of Gbp2 by modulating macroautophagy.
