Summary
InnateDB Protein IDBP-106297.6
Last Modified 2014-10-13 [Report errors or provide feedback]
Gene Symbol PIGR
Protein Name polymeric immunoglobulin receptor
Synonyms
Species Homo sapiens
Ensembl Protein ENSP00000348888
InnateDB Gene IDBG-106295 (PIGR)
Protein Structure
UniProt Annotation
Function This receptor binds polymeric IgA and IgM at the basolateral surface of epithelial cells. The complex is then transported across the cell to be secreted at the apical surface. During this process a cleavage occurs that separates the extracellular (known as the secretory component) from the transmembrane segment.
Subcellular Localization Cell membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein.Secretory component: Secreted.
