Function Component of mechanosensitive channel required for rapidly adapting mechanically activated (MA) currents in DRG neurons. Overexpression in multiple cell lines generates robust mechanosensitive cation currents that are non-selective, exhibit a linear current voltage relationship, and are sensitive to ruthenium red and gadolinium. {ECO:0000269PubMed:20813920}.

Disease Associations
