Last Modified 2014-10-13 [Report errors or provide feedback]
Gene Symbol Aph1b
Protein Name anterior pharynx defective 1b homolog (C. elegans)
Synonyms
Species Mus musculus
Ensembl Protein ENSMUSP00000034934
InnateDB Gene IDBG-179986 (Aph1b)
Protein Structure
UniProt Annotation
Function Probable subunit of the gamma-secretase complex, an endoprotease complex that catalyzes the intramembrane cleavage of integral proteins such as Notch receptors and APP (beta-amyloid precursor protein). It probably represents a stabilizing cofactor for the presenilin homodimer that promotes the formation of a stable complex. Probably present in a minority of gamma-secretase complexes compared to APH1A (By similarity). {ECO:0000250}.
Subcellular Localization Membrane {ECO:0000305}; Multi-pass membrane protein {ECO:0000305}.
