May mediate the enhancement of phagocytosis in monocytes and macrophages upon interaction with soluble defense collagens. May play a role in intercellular adhesion. Marker for early multipotent hematopoietic precursor cells. May play a role in cell-cell interactions during hematopoietic and vascular development.
