Gene Symbol Derl2
Protein Name Der1-like domain family, member 2
Synonyms
Species Mus musculus
Ensembl Protein ENSMUSP00000104163
InnateDB Gene IDBG-195837 (Derl2)
Protein Structure
UniProt Annotation
Function Functional component of endoplasmic reticulum-associated degradation (ERAD) for misfolded lumenal glycoproteins, but not that of misfolded nonglycoproteins. May act by forming a channel that allows the retrotranslocation of misfolded glycoproteins into the cytosol where they are ubiquitinated and degraded by the proteasome. May mediate the interaction between VCP and the degradation substrate (By similarity). {ECO:0000250}.
Subcellular Localization Endoplasmic reticulum membrane {ECO:0000250}; Multi-pass membrane protein {ECO:0000250}.
Disease Associations
Tissue Specificity Widely expressed, with lowest levels in brain and heart. {ECO:0000269PubMed:11500051, ECO:0000269PubMed:16186509}.
