Gene Symbol DOK1
Protein Name docking protein 1, 62kDa (downstream of tyrosine kinase 1)
Synonyms P62DOK;
Species Homo sapiens
Ensembl Protein ENSP00000387016
InnateDB Gene IDBG-57879 (DOK1)
Protein Structure
UniProt Annotation
Function DOK proteins are enzymatically inert adaptor or scaffolding proteins. They provide a docking platform for the assembly of multimolecular signaling complexes. DOK1 appears to be a negative regulator of the insulin signaling pathway. Modulates integrin activation by competing with talin for the same binding site on ITGB3. {ECO:0000269PubMed:18156175}.
Subcellular Localization Isoform 1: Cytoplasm. Nucleus.Isoform 3: Cytoplasm, perinuclear region.
Disease Associations
Tissue Specificity Expressed in pancreas, heart, leukocyte and spleen. Expressed in both resting and activated peripheral blood T-cells. Expressed in breast cancer. {ECO:0000269PubMed:12595900}.
