Regulates AURKB mRNA levels, and thereby plays a role in cytokinesis and in the spindle checkpoint. Does not have ubiquitin-specific peptidase activity, but could be a competitor of ubiquitin C-terminal hydrolases (UCHs) (By similarity). {ECO:0000250}.
