Summary This gene does not have any Entrez summary - the following is the summary from its human ortholog ENSG00000198160:
This gene encodes a protein that was first identified in Xenopus laevis by its role in a mesoderm induction early response (MIER). In human, this gene functions as a growth-factor-induced immediate early gene that encodes a transcriptional regulator. Depending on the cellular context, this gene can function as both an activator and repressor of gene transcription. Alternative splicing results in multiple isoforms; some of which contain a nuclear localization signal. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]
