Summary |
SIGIRR is a negative modulator of TLR-IL-1R signalling where it binds to the TLR-IL-1R signalling components in a ligand-dependent way.
SIGIRR controls Th17 cell expansion and effector function through the IL-1-induced mTOR signalling pathway.
SIGIRR regulates innate responses in differentiated human intestinal epithelial cells (IECs), modulating epithelial involvement in infectious and inflammatory bowel diseases.
SIGIRR can inhibit Toll-like receptor (TLR) 4, 5, and 9-mediated immune responses by attenuating production of the inflammatory mediators IL-6 and TNF-alpha and this attenuation was not the result of decreased expression of TLR4, 5 or 9, but rather a sequestration of MYD88 to the TLRs.
